Before we dive in to what’s new, I need to thank so many of you for subscribing over the years! I’d like to send the same thanks to all of you that are signing up now for the next stage of what Stupid Fresh Mess will be delivering to your inbox!
WHAT’S SO NEW?
Now that I have that out of the way. We’ve always given you all updates on new products and books available from my company STUPID FRESH MESS via SKOTTIEYOUNG.COM. You’ll continue to get all of the early announcements on original art sales, commission lists, first dibs on limited edition prints and comics…but there’s so much we’re adding.
This is no longer just a “Newsletter.” It’s a Creative Platform. A place to explore new ideas, stories, and products to share with you instantly.
For you OG followers (shout out to any of you Old LED HEAVY heads!), you’ll remember a day where blogging was something I did on a regular basis. Pulling back the curtain on my life and building a community for all of us to inspire each other. Social media came along and pulled us away from that kind of sharing and interacting. Now it’s limited character posts on Twitter or art trapped in the tiny square jail cell that is Instagram. Don’t get me wrong, both of those platforms have been great to me and so many of you have found your way here from there. But…
…it’s time to go back. Back to a time where I could open up and connect with you all in a more in depth way that the blog provided. On art and life.
SURE, BUT WHAT ELSE?
Okay, Emo Skottie isn’t enough? Fine. We’re offering Premium Subscriptions now! I’ll dive in to the archives of some of my comic library, post them and give some “Directors” commentary along with them. It will be a full deep dive into the creation and process of I HATE FAIRYLAND, BULLY WARS, MIDDLEWEST, THE ME YOU LOVE IN THE DARK, and more.
But best of all, I’ll be launching brand new original content right here for Premium Subscribers. Yup, you read that right. You’ll be the first to find out about and read brand new comics, illustrated prose, children’s books, etc. delivered right to your email.

Ugh, the voice I’m pretending is you all is pretty aggressive. You know what? I like that! So, yeah! I’ll let you in on some specific comic content you’ll be getting in the next year. How about the return of a certain green-haired girl in that little hit book called…
You all have no idea how excited I am to throw myself back into that world with those characters! I’ll get into more details in future posts, but for now, just know that Gert, Larry and the rest of the gang will be returning via your inbox and comic shops near you in the coming year!!! And the best part, you all will watch it all come to life right here!

Never fear! I’ve been making comic BOOKS for twenty years and that ain’t gonna stop now! You better believe my comics will GO TO PRINT and are going to be all up in your stores! This will be a place for you and the readers to watch them come to life and take shape! In fact, BECAUSE OF THIS SPACE, I’ll be able to develop much more creator owned content and bring them all to press!

Oh, well then, I forgot to mention a little something-something. If you sign up for an Annual Premium Subscription in the FIRST WEEK (by August 17th) you’ll be entered in a raffle for a chance to receive an ORIGINAL SKETCH by me. FUCK YEAH! BUT WHY?
Because I can, duh! I’ve always loved the idea of making things and just giving it directly to the readers. No barrier. No middleman. No NO’S. I get to play pretend on paper with my friends and then give that stuff straight to all of you! There’s nothing more fun than that.
We’re going to have some fun talking about and making comics!!!
BUT WHAT ABOUT…
…All my other work at Marvel? It’s all good! I’m still having a blast with Humberto Ramos while writing Strange Academy. My calendar is as filled with covers as it has been for the last 10 years, and there’s a new project coming up that no one knows about that will be a ton of fun.
Basically, I don’t like to rest and you all reap the rewards of that!
