Mmmmmm DROP!

Original Art Drop coming your way

Hey everyone! We’ve checked off a lot of big boxes around Stupid Fresh Mess in the last few months. Conventions, CGC private signings, a few personal trips, new book announcements, exclusive covers, new merch launches, and a few other things I know I’m forgetting. Now, before we wrap up the year and head into a very exciting and busy 2026, I’m excited to tell you we are dropping some of my original art from this past year!

I think of all the things I do, being able to create drawings on paper that other people want to own, hang up, collect, or whatever, is one of my favorites. Turning a blank piece of paper into a character, a world, a joke and most of all, hopefully a feeling, is one of the most rewarding parts of a being a visual story teller. Even if that story is being told in one image. In a world of digital everything, making tangible things and having them go out to live in the world beyond my studio is still a pinch me kind of feeling.

We’ve picked out some fun ones for this drop and some of them I’m really going to miss! That’s odd for me to say because I don’t think i’m going to feeling that way when I make them. I do so many covers that as I finish one, I don’t have time to really sit with it and think about it. I have to move onto the next script and cover due next. Then rinse and repeat. It’s not until Megan pulls the stack of covers out of the safe to decide what we’ll drop that I realize I really love a great deal of them. Haha. Like “Wow, that one’s pretty cool.”

Ok, so maybe I've talked myself into NOT selling any of these. Never mind. Ignore this whole newsletter. There is no drop. You’ll have to rip these original cover out of my cold dead hands before—

Skreeeech… Thanks for the EMO opening, Skottie. Hey everyone, Megan here taking over. While it does sometimes take Skottie a moment to bond with his work, it takes me zero time. I’m the one who photographs his progress and tries to capture and catalogue it like a historian. EVERY time a shipment from PRH or Lunar arrives it’s exciting. Opening that box to find a stack of books with that full color Skottie Young art and knowing it comes from that original 11x17 ink on bristol board that is still in my office is very cool. So yeah, I’m bonded with these pieces and sometimes Skottie has to say 2 or 17 times, HEY WHEN ARE WE GOING TO HAVE AN ART SALE?
