"Will you ever draw a DC cover?”
My answer has been the same for years and years. “No plans at the moment but I never say never.”
Today, that answered has changed a bit.
Now it’s a bit more like “YUP!”
And here’s my first one! BATMAN: OFF-WORLD #1. And it’s EXCLUSIVE at SkottieYoung.com!
I mean, you know I had to kick things off with Batman! What’s even better, this series is being written by one of my best buddies, Jason Aaron and art by the awesome Doug Mahnke.
I’ve been writing and drawing comics for 23 years now and this is the first official DC project I’ve ever worked on. Man, was it fun. I’ve drawn Batman a ton of times and in a ton of different ways over the years, but something about it being official made it hit a little bigger. As usual, this is penciled and inked by me and I was joined by my long time collaborator Jean-Francois Beaulieu on colors. It’s going to be so exciting to see you all starting getting these and posting them!
WAIT! DOES THIS MEAN YOU’RE DONE WITH YOUR MARVEL COVERS?!?!
WHUUUT?? Absolutely NOT! Not only do I have covers on my schedule for months to come, Marvel and I are cooking up something REALLY FUN and special for you in 2024! Outside of my my creator-owned books at Image Comics, Marvel has been my home for over 20 years, and the people there are like family to me. We all grew up together making comics! I’ll be having fun there for many more years to come.

A few weeks ago, I posted a photo on Instagram of Skottie working at his drawing table with the caption that something BIG was happening. It’s SUCH A RELIEF to finally let you all in on what we’ve been so excited about around the Stupid Fresh Mess studio!
Because we are making actual comic history here with Skottie’s very first cover EVER for DC, one cover simply didn’t cut it. Skottie shared our fully dressed Cover A above.
