New site, who dis?

NEW SITE, WHO DIS?

It’s me! Ya’ll know the name! Skottie-Fucking-Young, ain’t a damn thing changed…except my entire site. And I cleaned my garage this weekend so I can get one car in there now. Oh, and I bought a walking pad treadmill thing for my standing desk so I can walk while I type newsletters and things. I’m NOT doing that right now, but I did buy it so I could if I wanted to, Judgy McJudgerton. So, anyway, um, a lot has changed I guess.

I’m excited to announce the brand spankin’ new SKOTTIEYOUNG.COM! We took a sledgehammer to the old site and renovated it for the first time since we officially launched Stupid Fresh Mess as a company back in 2019.

We’ve cleaned things up, added some pages, made it prettier ( I mean, look at that handsome fella up there), and upgraded the store that will benefit both us and you making us all much happier art and comic lovers!

Because of the stronger store, we’ll be rolling out more products outside of just prints and exclusive covers. You’ll finally be able to grab yourself an official Stupid Fresh Mess snapback! We plan on rolling out a limited edition t-shirt soon and all kinds of other fun stuff.

BACK ON MY BLOG SHIT

You all know that Megan and John don’t let me in the store/shipping lane much so I’ll let them fill you in on that stuff. I’m most excited about bringing back one of my favorite things from back in the day. THE BLOG!

Yup. Substack has been a great re-introduction to blogging but I’ve missed having it live on my site along side my books, prints, original art and everything else I love sharing with you all. So I decided to take advantage of the site relaunch to re-introduce a blog to my online home at SKOTTIEYOUNG.COM. Stay tuned for more posts about all the nonsense rattling around in my head.

Ok. Wanna hear a story? Of course you do. It’s why you signed up for my newsletter. By now, you all know how my mind works. It’s running all the time and usually that means some interesting things will come out of it. Other times, it means I’ll go hard at solving a problem only to realize that there wasn’t a problem in need of solving in the first place.

As you can see above, there was a first draft of this newsletter where I talk all about my love of Blogs and bringing it back and blah blah blah. I spent months looking into blogs, made our designers plug in several, picked one, wrote and published the first one TODAY…and then realized I didn’t need to do any of that.

I was chasing something that USED to be. A simple, no hurdle blog with free to comment community that would get plugged into your RSS Feed readers.

But those days are gone. And I have a community. It’s right here with all of you. You’ve subscribed and followed and commented and all the things right here on Substack. You’ve gotten to know me better, become besties with Megan and John, and came along for the journey. I realized today that I don’t want to start all of that over on different platforms with plugins and payments, and ads, and a bunch of other things that would ruin what is already a pretty great place for us all to engage.

So, I killed the blog. I killed it before you even got to see its janky, hard to edit, plugin heavy face. We’re sticking around here. I choose you. You complete me. Time is a flat circle. I’m going to see about a girl. How do you like them apples. Ok, I’m running out of movie references. Anyway, nothing changes for you all. You keep getting what you’ve been getting, but like… better. And hopefully more.

There. You got to see the real deal, gritty side of the grind. There’s a millions choices to be made and each one could be correct. 6 of 1, half dozen of another kind of thing, ya know? You’ve followed my work, my blogs, my videos and streams…you already know polished isn’t my vibe. It’s not our vibe. We’re not perfect. We like playing it fast and loose around here and I think you all dig that about us!

Enjoy the new site. As always, we’re always open to your thoughts and feed back. We may not always listen to it…but we’re open to it. Kinda. Haha. Let us know what you think and I’ll see you in the funny books.

SKOTTIE SHOP UPDATE.

Hey guys! Megan here. I am SO proud of our new site and the little touches that make it more personal and MORE SKOTTIE. It’s been a labor of love (and some light cussing) in the works for quite some time. It’s our store front, our connection to all of you and the community. We want it to be so much more than a “store”. We’ll be adding and changing to it more frequently than we have in the past. And as Skottie said above, drop us your feedback and suggestions. We’d love to hear them!

We are wasting no time in dropping our first TWO exclusives on the new site (stay tuned to Instagram and the next newsletter). I want to make sure everyone is familiar with the site and set up to get what you need! You can always check out as a guest but to move more quickly through check out you can set up an account. Old accounts will not transfer to the new site so everyone will need to set up a new one. Your previous order history before April 17 will no longer be available. There are some CGC Signature Series orders placed before that time that are still pending. They will ship out with a confirmation email and tracking as always (they just won’t show in your order history).

You can use the new ShopPay option to use a stored credit card for payment along with Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal as always.

To set up a new user account:

1. Click on the little guy icon in the upper right hand corner.

   

2. Click on CREATE ACCOUNT next to SIGN IN and follow the steps! You will be sent an email and asked to validate your account. Now you can track your order history and look up tracking to see when those packages will hit your mailbox.

Heroes Convention June 14-16. We’ll send out a Heroes newsletter in late May with information about the table and availability of private signings for retailers with over 100 books.

Terrificon August 16-18. We are thrilled to be coming to Connecticut for Terrificon! Stay tuned for more details.
