Shipping.
A quick word on shipping. Our deadline to guarantee delivery for the holidays is Wednesday, Dec 8th. The demand on carriers is expected to be even higher than last year’s record setting numbers. We’ll do our absolute best to get orders placed after the 8th to you in time (and there’s a very good chance they will). You can always grab a gift card if you completely blow off all suggested deadlines.
Also, we are always happy to combine shipping on orders. We know the release dates of some books have been staggered and grabbing them quick can be tricky. Just send us an email at skottieyoungstore@skottieyoung.com with your order numbers. We can combine those shipments for you and refund any shipping charges on additional orders. We still have FREE SHIPPING OVER $100 which kicks in automatically at checkout.
Hey, Skottie.
What moment would for sure make it on the gag reel of your life?
Before I made comics for a living, I was a server. I waited tables for about 5-6 years. The last restaurant I worked at was a tourist diner in Chicago called Ed Debevic’s. It was a cheesy place where we had to dress up like characters from the 1950’s and 60’s. We danced on the counters and in the windows, and got to be “SASSY” to people. That’s code for MEAN! If you’re a FRIENDS fan, then you’ll remember the episode where Monica worked at a place like that because actor David Schwimmer ACTUALLY worked there years before me.
Weekdays there was dancing every 30 minutes to an hour. My go to was a solo dance to “PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC, WHITE BOY” on the main dining counter in front of the kitchen. I had done it a million times and it was always a hit. But this one Saturday, I got a little too animated and as I stepped back, I missed the bar completely. Down I went.
Here’s the thing. I’m 6’4” and when someone my size is flailing about on top of a dining counter and then your feet fly up from under you, it’s pretty fucking funny. But also…hurt like HELL!
I ended up just having the wind knocked out of me and it was mostly just a bad case of hurt pride and embarrassment.
There, my classic blooper moment.
If you missed Skottie’s Adobe Max segment when it was released live on Wednesday, you can catch it on-demand now!
Congrats on the big number! Can't even imagine 7,500 packages all being personally handled by the team! As always I appreciate all the people who help 'chip in' to make Stupid Fresh Mess as awesome as it is!
Ooh the Poached Egg Baby Yoda print is back?! Gonna have to add that to my Christmas wishlist for family members!
HAH! I have heard countless times Skottie talking about being a server and waiting tables. Didn't know he worked at a place like that lol. What kinds of characters did you dress up as? Also, I love the song choice to dance to! I feel like this scenario needs to be recreated haha.
I really enjoyed the Adobe Max presentation! I can't imagine how many times you've gone through your origin story but I always pickup on something new I feel like. I especially liked the bit of how you'll find your style when you stop trying to find your style.
Lastly, I can't wait to pickup the next chapter in The Me You Love in the Dark. As well as the adorably hilarious cover for The Death of Dr. Strange!
