Anaheim Here We Come.
Hey guys, Megan here! Next week we head out to WonderCon, our first con since C2E2 in 2020. Let me tell you, we are like little baby deer heading out into the woods for the first time. Actually that’s just me, Skottie has been doing this for 20 years. So here’s the scoop for the weekend.
Saturday, April 2
11am-12noon Empathy and the Anti Hero (Room 211)
Walking the fine line between making a character likeable versus unlikeable is a real skill. How do you make a reader want to know more about a character who may be, on the surface, not someone we want to empathize with? WonderCon special guests and other comic creators share their tips, tricks, and techniques for drawing readers in and making their characters shine. Panelists include Michael Cho (artist, Spider-Man), Skottie Young (The Me You Love in the Dark, Strange Academy), Amy Chu (Poison Ivy, Rick and Morty), Michael A. Stackpole (Star Wars, World of Warcraft), Michael Conrad (Wonder Woman, Tremor Dose), and Becky Cloonan (American Virgin). Moderated by Henry Barajas (Helm Graycastle).
2-3pm Out Of This World Character Creation (Room 209)
What does it take to create a character that exists in a world so unlike our own? Or to create a character that is unique but seamlessly fits into our world? What does creating a character mean, and how do you even begin? Learn from WonderCon special guests Kevin Eastman, Becky Cloonan, and Skottie Young and comic creators Kelly McMahon (Imperium) and Corinna Bechko (Green Lantern: Earth One) about how they create out-of-this-world characters. Moderated by Barbara Randall Kesel (Hawk and Dove/Marvels Snapshots Avengers).
3:30-4pm WonderCon Signing Area (FREE signings only, no graded signatures)
Sunday, April 3
11:30am-12:30pm Spotlight Panel With Skottie Young (Room 208)
Comic book creator Skottie Young is here for your questions and whatever you all would like to chat about! Bring your questions about writing, cover design, plot, and character development, what he gets on his pizza—all your questions are fair game. Skottie’s current projects include Marvel variant covers as well as exclusives for his own online store, writing The Me You Love in the Dark, TWIG, Strange Academy, and the relaunch of I Hate Fairyland later this year.
1-1:30pm WonderCon Signing Area (FREE signings only, no graded signatures)

You can find the submission paperwork and fill it out in advance at cgccomics.com sometime later this week! Graded signatures will not be accepted in the WonderCon signing line. Signing fee is $20 per item + any CGC fees for encapsulation and grading.
We are so excited to see you all there! Our next show will be in lovely downtown Kansas City at Planet ComicCon April 22-24.
So excited to see you guys at Wonder Con!!! Question, how does Skottie Young feel about signing homage books to his art? I don't want to offend him in any way, I just want his signature since he inspired the art. I have a "do you pooh" homage and want his signature on it if possible
How exciting! WonderCon will be my first comic con May 2019. I plan to be there on Saturday so I hope to meet you both in person and say hello. Both panels on Saturday are interesting to me (panels are one of my favorite parts of conventions). I haven’t seen the panel schedule yet but I hope to make it to one or both of yours. Safe travels. Thanks for making it all the way to California.
