Your chance to weigh in on if you'd like even more art, even more behind-the-scenes peeks and even more exclusive content from Skottie & Stupid Fresh Mess!
Genuinely love the live streams! Loved meeting you guys Sunday at Wondercon. Always wanting sketches and wanting to hear more of what inspires your stories. Also maybe what playlists or mix tapes we got playing regularly?
Really enjoy the live streams and being able to see the work come together. It's also been fun to get the behind the scenes view into some of the works that the team has developed. One thing I'd like to get a better view is on the con side. For instance - What can be shared as far as event participation? Will there be subscriber signings/events? Can we make a plug for our favorite "local" events?
All in all, this has been a great start to the Substack experience. Look forward to seeing where we head next.
I've felt that the whole experience over the last 8 months has been a great value to me. I love the stories (both fiction and nonfiction), the art (obviously), the streams with the random guests, and the positive energy from the whole Skottie team who make it all work. The artists spotlights have been a great addition as well.
I'd enjoy hearing more about the people now working to bring Gert back to us. Maybe try a stream as a launch party when the final product is ready. I'd dig a behind the scenes stream or newsletter to coincide with any or all of the new properties you've got lined up...*cough* Twig *cough* honestly. I'd really enjoy knowing more about the insane list of variant covers for Twig as I keep seeing them pop up on ebay. I think I've ordered 6 different ones myself. It'd be cool to hear thoughts on the covers and whether or not there is more behind the scenes to them or which ones have a more personal connection.
Honestly keep doing what you are doing. The live streams are awesome. I really have enjoyed being a part of this and getting to see the behind the scenes and the vibe of it just being a chill and relaxed.
I agree with another members post a look into Skottie’s playlist in the studio would be cool.
Thanks again to all the Stupid fresh mess crew for all that you do for the members.
I love your storytelling in whatever form that takes. Since I joined late, one of nice surprises of this substack was being able to go back and take my time reading the previous posts. The ones that grabbed me the most are the personal ones. It makes me as a fan feel more connected to who you and the team are as people I can relate to. (i.e. When Joel was talking about being inspired by Fábio and Gabriel acceptance speech at Eisner's 2011 and then connecting working with them (and Skottie) ten years later - that's fun. It also puts us in his shoes and opens that kind of experience to be shared by us all. Skottie sharing some of his wife's work or talking about his dad. Or Jim Mahfood and Skottie talking about getting together and have a draw off with Jim's brother. It makes it feel more like a homegrown business venture than just a business here to take our money. When I briefly talked with Meagan at WonderCon and she said, "We are literally next door neighbors and we get to work together as friends" that made me so happy. Who doesn't want to work with their friends?) I love stories and behind the scenes stuff is makes me feel like an insider who knows more than those who aren't along for the ride. Not that I should feel that way but it does make me feel special. Ha! Everything has been satisfying so far. Try new things, find your substack voice, and I'll enjoy the ride regardless of whatever potholes or bridges your team takes us on. <3
Ah, thanks Maka! Love your perspective. We are definitely home grown here. It always surprises me when people think we have we have a whole corporation going on, 😄. Loved meeting you this weekend, "see you" on the livestream!
The comments and suggestions here are so great and positive. I'm going through and getting a list going of what we can share more of with all of you in the months to come. Really good ideas!
I love the streams and meets with you guys as well.. I personally would like to be able to get some daily sketches in a book. I have one of your past ones.. but love your new stuff like the simpsons and some of your horror stuff( well everything) but do not have the money to ever purchase the originals. I am a hard copy over digital all day! As well maybe make a quick tutorial type drawing again.. like I know drawing along with you works for some but would be good to have another walkthrough type night that people can take away from. Just my thoughts. Keep up the great work though!! Excited to see what comes up next
Loved the hip hop sketches, personally, and I dig the live streams that I always seem to miss. Love seeing how the sausage is made and getting to understand the perspective of how you get to things creatively. Always a fan of your interpretations of genre films. You, Megan, Joel and team are doing a great job and looking forward to what you come up with next.
I may be late to the show , but i was wondering if you knew about the death of dr strange series before you guys started strange academy? And do you have to kind of collaberate with that series going forward?
I love all of the info and what’s coming out plus stuff others don’t get a chance at because they did not subscribe. More videos I love the ones he has on YouTube so packed with info and inspiration for other artist like myself.
I've so greatly enjoyed the past few months of being a Boss level subscriber! I've loved Skottie's work for close to ten years. But always felt like a fan from afar who enjoyed his art. Reading articles and his random posts and stuff. But I truly feel like part of the inner fan club now! I've never had more fun then I've had interacting here on Substack, on Instagram, and on the live streams. Just meeting other people who love his work, getting to know people like Megan, John, and yourself Joel. It's just been an absolute pleasure! I love getting a Substack email and immediately read them and try my best to comment on everyone. And then the weekly live streams are such a nice relaxing end to the day.
I'd just love to see more of all of it! I love that we're getting anything and everything Skottie. Whether that's his sketches and work but also him just chilling with friends and talking about all the fun shit they've gone through in the industry. I'm here for it and continue to look forward to more of this Stupid Fresh Mess!
This all sounds great!! I love the live streams and the sketches being done!! Keep up the good work!!
Yes plz! Hope skottie can do some more Disney characters he does them so well. Roger rabbit 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Just keep creating amaz-ballz content! Suggestion: anything Final Space related (a cancelled show that needs more love to be saved) Thank you.

Yeah well I just want to know if you are coming back down to the HeroesCon this year or not? So that I can plan my stuff for you to sign! 🤭
It's looking goooood. Hope to make an announcement soon.
I would love to see Skottie's take on the Muppets, especially Animal! Would love to see how he would sketch out the Muppets!
Nice! Electric Mayhem. They should have had a weekly spot with musical guests.

My daughter wants you to bring back Darkwing duck with Hong Kong Fooie. She’s 10 and loves comics and your Peanuts style superheros.
