Great post Skottie! Have you seen any of the music videos on YouTube featuring A. I. art? I have seen a few Aesop and DOOM ones that are pretty cool, I can't remember who the channel is...At least for now those do take a human touch to get the desired images and then edit them together coherently. But I am sure someone will be able to code something up that will do all that on its own eventually.

Anyhow as a hopeful artist myself I like these things being on the fringes of the art world staying a bit of a novelty. But it seems like things are developing at a rapid pace and that is pretty scary!

Also I am a sucker for signed artwork/prints, can't get that wih A. I. 😂

I view visual art the same as music. Well done media wears its soul on its sleeves. And if it doesn't have soul, I don't care if King Big Richard drew it, it can jog on. On the other side of the coin, media with soul can be felt, not just seen or heard. I don't think you have anything to worry about, bud. Your art has soul that can't be replaced by an algorithm.

I love these, they are so cute. I need them in my home. They are so cute they look like they would be so sweet and then when you made a mistake like not picking up oil/silicon from the store for them, they'd tear your head off. Love 'em, gotta have them. Can't wait for a story. 💙💜

Well spoken. Love it. Sticking by your big, idiotic, dumb dad joke-making lunk headed artwork over some AI program lol

A-fu#king-men! Pardon my french. But as a comic artist myself... this nonsense terrifies me as well.

Part of the human condition is to imagine, to create, to share vision, experience and knowledge - and GROW.

If a robot can just vomit out and image based off a random prompt... human imagination begins to die.

Not to mention the reality that it didn't "draw" anything... but rather mashed, filterer and blended a series of art, images and photography that others did to make an "original" image.

It is the culmination of aparthy, laziness and unwillingness to work for a craft. Frankly, we are better than this.

As a fun side thing, meh, very tentative maybe... but as a replacement for real art made by real living beings.. nope, hard pass.

*thanks for attending my crazy nervous artist Ted talk :) *

There's no way to convince the "hard line in the sand" people on both sides whether it's good or bad. I will always prefer the human element! I am curious to see if people will try to monetize this kind of art going forward. As a (not so talented) artist, I would think it would help me to get my vision across if AI saw my concept and "fixed it" to make it what I visualize in my mind. I just don't know how much I like that though.

Like others have said, I really appreciate your take on the whole matter. There is no black and white, it's gray as shit and it isn't going away. Just like 2D animators had to adapt when 3D came around, the same will happen. We'll have to adapt and figure out this new landscape of art.

I also just wanted to say thank you for making the post and giving your opinion. As well as not just pointing fingers or drawing a line in the sand. It's been tough watching multiple industries go at each other's throats over this subject matter. I think this is something we should all be discussing. But yelling at each other isn't going to solve the problem.

Lastly, I've got two Skottie boxes getting delivered today and they won't be the last! You can count on me to keep supporting your "big, idiotic, dumb dad joke-making lunkhead" art because I can't get enough!

Just keep drawing the robots in good light so when they take over one day you will be saved...

Very awesome and well thought out take on the subject. Rest assured though, there's only one Skottie Young and no program will ever replace your art.

"I’m not afraid of A.I. art because I don’t just DRAW things. I SAY things with drawings. "

This is the realest sh*t right here.

Amazing take on this subject and I have to say I totally agree with you on this one. The machines can never truly make the same kind of art and artist makes because we are make art that tells a story or is a part of us.

There for the Ai art will lack pop and connection art from the artist has.
