I'm not gonna be very much help, as someone who's on the free tier I believe you go above and beyond. I mean, I've already gotten free digital issues and a digital trade? So dope! Not to mention the audio clips that have been dropped, can't ask for too much when you're getting it for free. So, I'm definitely good boss. Keep doing what you're doing.
How about once a month you invite another comic creator to Zoom into the Stupid Fresh Mess studio and record the conversation? I'd love to hear you talking to other writers/artists about the craft. Perhaps before you talk to them you ask paid subs for any questions they might have for them.
1. PDF file of sketches, odds and ends, process shots—- side notes on thought process, procedures.
2. More stickers
3. See some one off project/products. Design a “movie” poster Drew Struzan collage style. Do a multi video diary of the process. (Check out TEN HUN on YouTube doing murals and art projects)
4. Thoughts on Goals vs. Systems (Scott Adams)
:)
Long time. I’m low key keeping tabs. Congrats on all the success. It’s cool to have seen all the progress from the early days. Hope the Family is all safe, healthy and happy!!! Miss you guys!!
Maybe once a month, offer a digital file of a sketch for coloring. I have saved some from instagram to practice on, but it would be nice to have something a little more official to play with.
I think some more content on comic creating would be dope! Your process on writing scripts, world building, character design, drawing inside panels, page layouts, page themes and all that good stuff both creator owned and projects in the past or present. Thanks guys!
I know this wouldn’t happen often, but I’ve always wanted to see Skottie do a completely original work (his own choice of characters and concept) at an equivalent level to what he does for full-price commissions. Possibly even a painting. Maybe once a year he could do something original like this and paid subscribers could enter a lottery for the opportunity to purchase the piece. Video and commentary about the creation could be shared with all subscribers.
Would love to see some video tutorials from you on different art topics. Maybe a draw along, too? Doesn’t have to be via Zoom or anything but almost like a fun drawing assignment with a word or phrase that you will draw and we can do our interpretations of it. I think that would be fun. I am learning how to draw for fun and think these two things would be informative while fun to experience
I learn a ton from watching other artists draw. It gives me insight into their thought process and working techniques (and reassures me that I'm not doing it completely wrong!). So I'd vote for more videos showing you doing daily sketches, comic pages, or whatever the muse decrees.
Are you planning some holiday themed drawings? I would love to see your take on Santa Claus and Krampus. (I def wouldn't like to use them as inspiration to add to my Xmas tattoo.)
I would personally like to see some fine, upstanding Canadian citizen being trusted with the Skottie Young name up here in the Great White North. This individual could potentially be a distribution center for your prints for Canadian fans so they don't get gouged with shipping costs, which I know is completely out of your hands.
I'm not specifically suggesting that I could be that citizen, but if you need someone, I suppose I could look after that for you ;)
Other than that, I completely agree with Jay Burns... I feel that you have done more than good by us fans who are still stuck at the free tier.
What if Darth Vader had found Luke and Leia when young? He could then impart his fatherly wisdom (ie your own witticisms) on the ever suffering Skywalker kids.
Either that or anything further you could conjure up on Stephen King’s Dark Tower. Even just a one off sketch.
There was a Deadpool cover that was like a Garbage Pail Kid throwback. I would actually like to see more of those. Funny, quirky, oddly gross, I feel like it would be up your alley. Mixing Baby Variants with Garbage Pail. Lots of options there. Or takes on your own characters.

Done! As long as you agree to be one of the first.
haha! Absolutely! Mainly, I just want to see you talk to Todd McFarlane some day.
i was hoping that maybe there will be substack subscriber only original art sales. i try to get art from daily sketches but they go by so fast.
We’ll discuss this for sure. Thank you for the suggestion!
- What do you collect?
- Subscriber art submissions
- What are you listening to while working?
Thank you! Fun suggestions!

Hey Kev!!! miss you buddy!!!

Random subscribers picked to do 2-way interviews would be fun for both sides.
Show off your collection: you could do storytime on your favorite/more personal pieces.
Series of daily sketches i.e. different members of groups like the Gorillaz ones
Other hobbies you are into
Meet the artist opportunities
Great ideas! Thank you!

Cheers from Australia, Gareth.

I've got three things rattling around ...
1. What is your dream project? Is there something you've always wanted to do but have yet to tackle?
2. One of your daily sketches of Indiana Jones always stood out for me. That would be a cool character to see you drive into that world.
3. More stickers please!
